A panel of technology and health care leaders discussed the rehabilitation, research and technology needed to meet the needs of the growing elderly visually impaired population, which is expected to double by 2030. Our honored guests were A. Raymond Tye, philanthropist and businessman, and the family of Paul O'Friel, a longtime MAB Board Member (shown below with Commissioner for the Blind Janet LaBreck).

Celebrating meaningful work in the lives of people with disabilities, MAB honored two giants in the field. Bill Kiernan is the Executive Director of the Institute for Community Inclusion. Ray Kurzweil is the inventor of the first portable scanning device that turns text into speech. A special presentation was made by Anthony Linnel, a graduate of the Ivy Street School (center, below, with students and staff).
