Executive Team
Chief Executive Officer – Barbara Salisbury
Prior to joining MAB, Barbara Salisbury had a long career in state government and higher education. She served as the state budget director for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts under Governor Michael Dukakis, and was the Administrative Dean of the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University for 12 years. She came to MAB in 2006.

Chief Financial Officer – John Salvati
John Salvati was the Senior Research Associate for Professional Development at the Center for Youth and Communities, Heller Graduate School, Brandeis University. He trained senior managers in state and local governments and non-profits, and consulted with non-profit organizations on issues of finances, management, and strategic planning. He held senior management positions in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from 1971 to 1992. John is a member of four non-profit boards: St. Mary’s Women and Children’s Center, Boston ASAP, Family Continuity Program, and Brandon School & Residential Treatment Center. He joined MAB in 2002.

Director of Brain Injury Services – Ron Allen
Ron Allen holds a Ph.D. in Psychology and is a certified brain injury specialist. He is also a graduate professor of Applied Behavior Analysis at Simmons College. Prior to joining MAB, he directed various programs over the years for adolescents as well as adults with brain injury. He came to MAB in 1996.

Director of Developmental Disability Services – Heller Shoop
Heller Shoop has twenty years experience providing supports and leadership in organizations serving adults with disabilities. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from Hiram College, 1989 and a M.S. in Non-Profit Administration from UMass Boston College of Community and Public Service, 1999. She came to MAB in 1995.

Director of Development – Cynthia Canham
Cynthia Canham joined MAB in 1998 as a grant writer and became the Director of Development in 2004. She is a graduate of Brown University, where she studied history, literature and radio broadcasting.

Vision Community Services
Carol Curdo – Central Massachusetts Regional Director
Carol Curdo joined the Worcester office in 1986 as Administrative Assistant and became Coordinator of Volunteer Services a few years later. She assumed the position of Regional Director in the early 1990s. She earned graduate level low vision coursework through UMass Boston in 2001, studied case management, and is certified for Low Vision Rehabilitation from the New England Eye Institute. Carol has a Certificate of Aging from the Institute of Geriatric Social Work, Boston University School of Social Work. She also serves on the Advisory Council for the Great Brook Valley Health Center.

Fran Weisse – Greater Boston Regional Director
Fran Weisse first worked for MAB from 1970 to 1980, and then for the VISION Foundation, Inc. from 1980 to 1998, when it merged with MAB; she has worked for the Greater Boston office ever since. She has spent her career in the field of blindness, and over the years has held the positions of Supportive Services Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator, Director of Community Services, Information and Referral Counselor, Assistant Regional Director, and Greater Boston Regional Director. Fran currently serves on the Board of MetroWest Aging and on the Disability Resource Consortium Advisory Committee.
