Marathon 2009
In 2009 the Team With a Vision raised $25,000 for MAB. Many team members came from out of state, traveling from California, the District of Columbia, Illinois, Alaska, and Australia. They were joined by four local runners and four guides from Community Running. Kurt Fiene and Adrian Broca finished first and second in the men’s visually impaired division, with Kurt’s time of 2:43:44 setting a course record for a visually impaired American. Tina Ament placed third in the women’s visually impaired division with a time of 4:14:31.
"My MAB volunteer is a lifesaver. You know, when you ask a friend or a family member to help, you’re putting them on the spot and it makes you feel degraded. You feel beholden. But my volunteer comes because she wants to help."
