Vision 5K 2009
The 2009 Vision 5K was a major success, with a wonderful turnout of over 1,000 participants and their families and friends. The weather was near perfect, with optimal conditions for the runners on the gorgeous course that ran alongside the reservoir at Boston College. Afterwards commenced the festivities, with food and music to celebrate the race!
The winners of both the visually impaired and sighted categories, Francis Thuo from Kenya won first place in the men’s division with a time of 16:36, Noel Thatcher from England took second with 16:45, and Gonzalo Moises Beristain took third place with 17:00. For the women’s visually impaired division, Ivonne Mosquera won with 21:51, Kelsey Strom placed second with 22:27, and Cheryl Hewitt won third place with 26:23. In the women’s sighted category, Laura Smith won first place with 19:01, Dorothy Zirkle took second with 19:16, and Arielle Chernin placed third with 20:03. Congratulations to all the winners!
