Students in an Ivy Street School classroom

Ivy Street School

Changing the lives of adolescents with brain injuries.

The Ivy Street School was founded in 1993 to provide residential and educational treatment to the growing number of adolescents with brain injuries and other neurological difficulties. Ivy Street is a place for learning, providing young men and women from the ages of 13 to 22 with academic plans tailored to their education level; life skills and vocational training, individual and group therapy; adaptive physical education; and restorative therapies such as physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy.

Ivy Street specializes in helping families and students gain the skills and strategies to successfully manage their disabilities and the challenging behaviors caused by brain injury. Our phased vocational curriculum and residential opportunities put students on a track of increasing independence and self confidence, toward the goal of successful transition to adult life.

"I became a student at the Ivy Street School after I had a traumatic brain injury in a car accident when I was seventeen. At the school I learned how to cope with the results of my injury and be an independent young woman. There are a lot of people who helped me get to this point, and helped me get a job where I can make a difference in other people’s lives. Going out to work every day and feeling like you’re needed is something that most people take for granted. But for me, it’s something I think about every day."
