School Consultation
Brain injuries and other neurological challenges disrupt all aspects of a child’s or adolescent’s life, particularly in the areas of academic, social, and emotional functioning. These children and young adults often require special services including rehabilitative therapies, neurobehavioral management, specialized educational and vocational instruction, as well as psychosocial support.
If provided with the appropriate services and support, many students with acquired or traumatic brain injury or other neurological challenges can be successful within the natural context of their home and community school. The Ivy Street School offers consultative services designed to promote successful inclusionary experiences while supporting the preexisting educational relationships in a child’s life. We also assist schools and families in organizing and maximizing current resources, and promoting successful public school reentry for students transitioning from home, health care settings, alternative schools or residential placement.
Our Outreach and Consultation Services include the following:
- In-service Training for Staff
- Case Management
- Educational Assessment and Planning (i.e. compensatory strategies, adapted curriculum, development of I.E.P’s, etc.)
- Clinical Assessment and Consultation
- Family Support and Education
- Consultation, Training, and Program Development in the area of Behavioral Management
- Clinical/Education Service Integration

"The Ivy Street School was the first place in which I felt truly supported. I learned how to do the right thing in different situations. I learned to take the advice of the staff and have patience with myself."
