Volunteers for Vision

Volunteers for vision assist with a range of daily tasks. Each volunteer has a unique role depending on the needs of the blind individual, but volunteers often assist with:

  • grocery shopping
  • errands
  • clerical tasks
  • reading print material, such as mail
    • You might help a neighbor go through the weekly pile of mail, choose products together at the grocery store, or pick out greeting cards together at the pharmacy.

Volunteers must be 18 or older or accompanied by a parent or guardian. Potential volunteers are interviewed, undergo a criminal record check (CORI) and attend an orientation. Time commitment ranges from two hours per week to two hours every other week, with a minimum commitment of six months.
