“Some of the biggest obstacles to overcome aren’t physical at all, they’re the doubts within yourself and the misconceptions about yourself. While these challenges are difficult to overcome, they are the most satisfying.”

MABVI’s Team With a Vision just ran The Boston Marathon for the 24th consecutive year, and in our latest Insight guest blog, we get to hear from a man who ran on the initial version of the Team back in 1994 – only the second year of its existence!

Peter Alan Smith is a Harvard University graduate who has worked at John Hancock for the past 30 years. A former Paralympian cyclist, he prides himself on demonstrating the capabilities of people who are visually impaired, and today he is known as “The Midnight Golfer” for his skills on the golf course.

In this post on our Insight blog, Peter looks back on his first Boston Marathon experience, sharing an article he wrote back then about overcoming the obstacles his vision impairment presented to experience the triumph and exhilaration that only the world’s most famous marathon can bring!
