Insight Blog: “Here to Help: MABVI’s Adjustment to Vision Loss Counseling”

“When people are feeling down or anxious they may think they can’t do ANYTHING they used to do when they could see better, but in talking with a counselor they can learn to challenge that all-or-nothing thinking and realize there are still many things the person can do, some of it may just have to be done in a different way.”
Adjusting to life with vision loss can lead to depression, isolation, and feelings of hopelessness, which is why the Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired has launched a new service: Adjustment to Vision Loss Counseling. Individuals can meet with our counselors to help work through these difficult changes and realize that vision loss doesn’t have to stop you from doing the things you enjoy or living a full, meaningful life.
In our latest Insight blog guest post, Lori Berkey, one of MABVI’s Adjustment to Vision Loss Counselors, talks about this new service as well as what led her to take on this role. Read it here: Here to Help: MABVI’s Adjustment to Vision Loss Counseling
