Douglas I. Katz, MD, is a neurologist who subspecializes in behavioral neurology and neurorehabilitation, and is a well-recognized expert in traumatic brain injury. He has been employed by Braintree Rehabilitation Hospital for more than 20 years where he is Medical Director of Brain Injury Programs. He is affiliated with Boston University Neurology Associates and is Associate Professor of Neurology at Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Katz has authored numerous publications and frequently presents at national and international meetings. He is co-editor of a recently released comprehensive text published by Demos, Brain Injury Medicine. His research interests include predictors of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) recovery, disorders of consciousness, and medication trials for cognitive impairments after TBI.

Dr. Katz is on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Neurorehabilitation and is a former member of the Board of the Brain Injury Association of America. He is Past-Chair of the Section on Neural Repair and Rehabilitation for the American Academy of Neurology and serves on a number of editorial boards.

Dr. Katz was awarded the Sheldon Berrol MD Clinical Service Award by the Brain Injury Association of America in 2001. He is a fellow of the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine and the American Academy of Neurology. He also sits on the Board of Directors of MAB Community Services and Chairs the National Advisory Board for MAB’s Ivy Street School, charged with creating a blueprint for enriching our services, renovating our building, and expanding our impact across the country. He has changed the lives and life chances of countless individuals with brain injuries.
